Learning skills appointments are up to 50 minutes one-on-one or small-group sessions available to students who are experiencing difficulty with the tertiary literacy and/or learning requirements of their studies. These appointments are free and confidential.
In working with you in a learning skills appointment, we will help you:
- Determine where you are going wrong with your academic reading and/or writing
- Address particular issues, questions, or concerns related to tertiary literacy and learning
- Identify resources that are available to support your independent learning and how to access them
- Understand how to improve your work based on specific feedback that you have received on assignments
In working with you in a learning skills appointment, we will not:
- Proofread your assignments
- Provide feedback on the subject-specific content of your work
- Write your work for you
- Meet with you more than once for a particular assignment
One of the key aims of these sessions is to assist you in becoming an independent, self-directed learner. With this in mind, appointments are limited to four per semester for any one student, except with the approval of Learning Skills Advisers.
